Allyance Media Group’s DIGA Studios is restructuring its unscripted and production teams with EVP and head of unscripted Nick Rigg signing a multi-year deal with the studio.

DIGA additionally promoted development executives Maria Skillman and Haruka Wakimoto to director of unscripted development and manager of unscripted development, respectively, while production SVP Andrew Portnoy moves to EVP of production.

Rigg joined DIGA in January 2019, since playing a key role in the development and execution of unscripted series such as Hot Ones: The Game Show (truTV), Million Dollar Beach House (Netflix), the upcoming Big Trick Energy (truTV) and a number of other soon-to-be-announced projects.

Prior to his current post, the executive served as president of ITV America’s Loud TV for which he developed and co-produced series including Girls Incarcerated for Netflix and Tiny House Nation for FYI and A&E.

The role followed his time as president of Leopard Films USA.

Skillman, meanwhile, joined DIGA as an assistant in February 2016, most recently serving as manager of development. Wakimoto joined DIGA as an assistant in February 2019 after working with Rigg at ITV.

Portnoy took up his role at DIGA Studios in January 2019. As SVP of production, the executive has guided the studio’s various productions including Million Dollar Beach HouseHot Ones and Big Trick Energy.

Prior to joining DIGA, Portnoy was SVP and head of Production at MTV, where he managed a slate including more than 140 annual projects and oversaw tentpole events, series such as Jersey Shore, Catfish, Teen Mom, Wild n Out, The Real World and Challenges, as well as live daily programming.

“With Nick Rigg at the helm of Unscripted, DIGA’s creative bar and volume of premium projects has significantly increased, and with his incredible attention to detail, tireless work ethic and constant engagement with the ever-evolving marketplace, he has blown away our expectations,” Allyance Media Group CEO Tony DiSanto said in a satetment. “Nick is backed by an incredible team in Maria and Haruka who both have great creative sensibilities and consistently flawless execution. The three of them are the core of a world class unscripted development team that is taking DIGA to the next level.”

“Andy is our secret weapon here at DIGA, just like he was ours at MTV for the decade we worked together there,” DiSanto added. “His extensive experience in virtually every style of production, whether it be scripted, unscripted, event, animation- there is nothing that gets thrown at him that he can’t handle, making DIGA stronger for ourselves and our clients. When we went into quarantine, he led the entire company to a remote production model without missing a beat, allowing us to keep everything on track. We are very fortunate to have him on our team.”

The studio stated its set to kick off pre-production on a number of unannounced projects, with several formats to follow.
