MTV Int’l sets True Life Crime UK for April

MTV International is set to launch its reporter-led investigative series True Life Crime in the UK next month.

The four-episode docuseries (pictured), commissioned for MTV International by Kerry Taylor and Craig Orr, is hosted by broadcast journalist Linda Adey.

True Life Crime premiered in the U.S. early 2020, following journalist and MTV News host Dometi Pongo as he investigates crimes committed against young people.

True Life Crime UK will premiere April 7 globally.

The executive producers for MTV International are Orr and Iestyn Barker, and the executive producer for ViacomCBS International Studios UK (VIS UK) is Jeff Anderson. Nick Kenton is series producer.

German producer/distributor Autentic reveals new productions

Autentic Distribution has launched its latest new in-house slate ahead of MIPTV. The projects run the gamut from history and crime titles, to travel and factual entertainment programs, to science and technology series. The titles are available either as ready-made programs or as pre-sale projects.

Some of the new series include the history/crime miniseries Kings of St. Pauli – The Rise and Fall of Hamburg’s Pimp Gangs (3 x 45 minutes), which also is part of the 2021 MIPTV Factual & Documentary Content Showcase, and two-parter Europe’s Forgotten Dictatorships (2 x 45 minutes).

There is also the travel two-parter By Mail Ship through the South Seas (2 x 45 minutes) and from the label’s factual slate, Explosive – Men on a Dangerous Mission(6 x 45 minutes) and Badass Professions (6 x 45 minutes).

And for nature lovers there’s the pre-sale title Wildlife Diaries (6 x 45 minutes).

Autentic Distribution is the sales division of factual content label Autentic, a subsidiary of Beta.

Bossanova signs deal with CJZ, Greenstone

Uk-based content creation, funding and distribution company BossaNova has struck a 600+ hours deal with Australia- and New Zealand-based factual producers CJZ and Greenstone.

The deal was brokered by Paul Heaney, co-founder and CEO of BossaNova, and Matt Campbell, group CEO of CJZ.

The deal adds a number of returning factual titles to BossaNova’s roster, including the Patrol franchise, produced by New Zealand indie Greenstone and acquired by CJZ in 2014.

That portfolio includes Border Patrol (108 x 30 minutes), Motorway Patrol (196 x 30 minutes), Highway Patrol (107 x 30 minutes) and Dog Patrol (106 x 30 minutes), as well as the spin-off series Dog Patrol: Puppy School (20 x 23 minutes).

The deal also includes over 20 other factual series including Cruising, Murder in the Outback, The Big Ward and Renters.

CJZ Australia’s catalogue is available now and the Greenstone NZ titles will be available between now and August of this year.

CBC launches its New Indigenous Voices Program

Presented by Canada’s National Screen Institute, CBC New Indigenous Voices is a full-time, 14-week online training program for up to nine Indigenous creators aged 18 to 35 to learn the essential elements of working in the film, TV and digital media industries.

Successful applicants will get a mix of hands-on experience and online classes to hear from industry experts and professional organization as well as learning about funding and development.

The curriculum includes both traditional and spiritual elements. Minimum wage is paid throughout.

According to the NSI, there are six places guaranteed for qualified applicants living in Manitoba and up to three places are available to qualified applicants who live outside that province.
