Los Angeles- and London-based prodco Lightbox has hired Alexis Gomez-Garcia as its new VP of development and promoted Suzanne Lavery to the role of SVP, unscripted.
On the West Coast, Gomez-Garcia (pictured right) will focus her energy on growing the company’s slate of returning series, limited series and feature docs destined for streamers and broadcasters. She joins Lightbox from Critical Content, where she served as senior director of development, helming projects for Netflix, Amazon, HBO Max, Discovery +, Bravo, E! and National Geographic. Prior to that, Gomez-Garcia was manager of development at Bunim Murray Productions.
In London, meanwhile, Suzanne Lavery (left) has been elevated to the role of SVP, unscripted, overseeing many of the company’s premium limited series for the international market. Lavery first joined Lightbox in 2015 as showrunner on the investigative series The Traffickers. Since then, she’s gone on to oversee feature docs and premium limited and multi-part series destined for SVODs and international broadcasters. She’s currently EP on the Netflix original doc series The Story of Sophie Toscan du Plantier (w/t) and Return to the Moon.
Simon and Jonathan Chinn, co-founders of Lightbox, note: “As we begin the next stage of Lightbox’s evolution, we are thrilled to welcome Alexis, who brings a first-rate track record of developing premium content in areas that are both familiar and new, to the company. We are also delighted to recognize Suzanne’s contribution to our success with her promotion. Despite the very difficult circumstances, last year was our most successful yet and we are well placed for 2021 and beyond to push for further growth – plans for which Alexis and Suzanne will be instrumental.”
