ViacomCBS Int’l Studios Distribution sells reality formats
ViacomCBS International Studios Distribution, a division of ViacomCBS Networks International, has signed several format deals within the comedy and reality genres with global partners.
On the reality front, the distributor inked a deal with Mediengruppe RTL’s TVNOW to bring to life the lesbian dating show Princess Charming.
Produced by Seapoint, this German series is a spinoff of the original format Finding Prince Charming, the gay reality competition format involving a group of potential suitors attempting to steal the heart of a charming bachelor, which first launched on ViacomCBS’s U.S.-based channel Logo.
Princess Charming will feature a Cologne-based lawyer, Irina Schlauch, as the first woman who goes in search of her great love in this new spinoff, slated to premiere on TVNOW in spring 2021.
The company also extended its partnership with Mediengruppe RTL Germany to bring a third season of Finding Prince Charming and a second season of Ex On the Beach (pictured) to local audiences as TVNOW original commissions.
Produced by Seapoint, season three of Prince Charming is slated to debut later this year. The 10-episode series will also include a reunion special.
Finally, the 16-episode second season of reality classic Ex On the Beach, produced by RTL Studios, will premiere on TVNOW April 15.
Former ViacomCBS exec joins FilmRise
FilmRise, the New York-based film and television studio and streaming network, has appointed Jonitha Keymoore to the position of senior director, global acquisitions.
In her new role, Keymoore will be responsible for developing multi-territory film and television acquisition opportunities while working across existing content partners to help build FilmRise’s growing global licensing and distribution business.
She will represent FilmRise as a buyer at virtual film and television markets throughout 2021, reporting directly to Einhorn.
Previously, Keymoore was senior director, content acquisitions at ViacomCBS where she served in a senior strategic role for the company, negotiating deal terms for acquired content and working directly with large studios such as Sony, Disney, Fox, CBS, WarnerBros and NBCUniversal, among others.
Prior to that, she served as director, distribution at Konami Cross Media, handling the anime property, Yu-Gi-Oh!, leading the franchise’s strategic partnership for theatrical, broadcast, home video and digital distribution.
ZDF orders Laughing All The Way To The Bank
German pubcaster ZDF has commissioned a seven-episode season of Tel Aviv-headquartered Gil Formats’ comedy format Laughing All The Way To The Bank.
The German series will air this spring on ZDF’s Youtube channel and ZDF Neo and will be called Lunchtime Punchline.
Produced by Seapoint Productions, the German version will see comedian Ingolf Lück try to keep a straight face as various comedians perform their acts for him.
The production is led by ZDF editor Livia Reidt, Seapoint MD Nina Klink, producer Holger Fritsche and author/head writer Gregor Ryl.
Armoza Formats strengthens sales team
Armoza Formats, part of ITV Studios, is expanding its sales division with Salomé Peillon now appointed to the role of head of sales and Elizaveta Makarova joining the team as sales executive for Eastern Europe and CIS.
Peillon joined the company’s sales department in 2015 as sales executive for Latin-speaking Europe and French Canada.
Prior to working at Armoza Formats, she worked for the International Short Film Festival, Lev Cinemas and at the French Institute as the cultural and audiovisual project manager.
Makarova joined the Israel-based content creator and distributor at the end of February.
