TV One is rolling out a slate of unscripted programming across its linear and digital networks this year, the Urban One-owned channel confirmed at its recent Upfronts presentation.
Titles include Minding Your Body and Soul (w/t), an hour-long series that showcases people’s emergence from “unhealthy habits and unhappy lives,” fronted by life coach Al Johnson, and the original true crime series Sins of the City, which investigates the dark underbelly of popular cities.
Sins of the City, premiering May 13, weaves narrations, interviews and archival footage.
The network’s sister channel, Cleo TV, is also set to premiere two new unscripted series: Culture Kitchen, which sees Bren Herrera present recipes and stories from her travels abroad, and A Taste of the Diaspora (w/t), featuring chef Essie Bartels.
Those series join other returning Cleo TV titles including Just Eats with Chef JJ (pictured), New Soul Kitchen and Living By Design.
“During a difficult year, we are proud that we were able to safely move full speed ahead with so many successful productions,” Michelle Rice, president, TV One and Cleo TV, said in a statement. “With a number of new programs in the pipeline, and strong performance across both linear and digital channels, TV One and Cleo TV are well positioned to continue serving as the go-to destination for African-American viewers.”
