Independent producer RIVR Media is prepping the upcoming launch of RIVR Studios, a new resource for TV, film and commercial production.
RIVR Studios, which will open this summer in the production company’s home city of Knoxville, Tennessee, will contain multiple full-service, COVID-compliant studio spaces. The fully equipped studios will be available for use on unscripted and scripted series, films, branded content and advertising.
The new studio comes from a partnership between RIVR Media and HGTV co-founder Bob Baskerville. Baskerville (pictured), an industry veteran, will take on the role of president of RIVR Studios, after formerly working as EVP, digital and media operations at Discovery Inc.
Since its formation in 1999, RIVR Media has produced thousands of television shows for networks such as Discovery, HGTV, the Food Network, A&E, ESPN, Lifetime and more. Covering a variety of genres including documentary, true crime, sports entertainment, reality competition and game shows, credits include such series as Trading Spaces, Whale Wars and Fixer to Fabulous.
RIVR Media is led by veteran producer Dee Bagwell Haslam, who’s also CEO of Haslam Sports Group and managing partner for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, and by Emmy-nominated showrunner Lori Golden-Stryer, who was named RIVR Media CEO in 2019.
“Knoxville has long been a hidden gem in the Southeast as a TV and film hotbed,” Haslam and Golden-Stryer said in a joint statement.
“Seeing its continuing growth over the last year, we identified an exciting opportunity to launch a full-service studio space equipped for all forms of production. Having Bob as president will bring to RIVR Studios unmatched experience in brand building, digital technology and business leadership.”
The newly built RIVR Studios was also constructed to include COVID-compliant ‘MERV 13′ air filtration, as recommended by the Center for Disease Control, RIVR Media said.
