Realscreen is partnering with filmmaker and executive producer Chuck Braverman and his Westdoc Online video series to bring his interviews with acclaimed documentarians and non-fiction content industry figures to its readership.

In this episode, Braverman talks with first-time feature doc director Matthew Walker and Wanita Bahtiyar, the star of his Hot Docs-premiering film, I’m Wanita, about capturing the essence of the Australian country music vocalist and songwriter as she works to fulfill her dream of recording in Nashville.

Walker, who has worked as a film and factual television editor on such series as CJZ’s Go Back to Where You Came From and docs including Pursekey Productions’ After the Apology, first profiled the singer in the doc short Heart of the Queen in 2015, but with the feature doc, he follows the self-described “queen of honky tonk” over five years, and is privy to myriad challenges as the singer navigates ups and downs in her life, her work, and in attempting to realize her dream.

The film is currently distributed in Australia via Label Distribution with a theatrical release in Australia slated for this September.
