Dublin-based prodco BiggerStage and Fox Alternative Entertainment (FAE), Fox’s U.S.-based in-house unscripted studio, are teaming up to jointly produce a new variety competition series, The Big Deal, for Ireland’s Virgin Media Television.
The 6 x 60-minute performance competition series is owned by FAE and will premiere on Virgin Media Television this fall.
The Big Deal features variety acts performing for the judges, with each offered a deal to either accept a cash payment or bet on themselves and hope they’ve impressed the judges enough to make it to the final. The series is presented by Vogue Williams and co-stars celebrity judges like Boy George, comedian and actor Deirdre O’Kane and The Masked Singer finalist Aston Merrygold, among others.
The show is BiggerStage’s first major project, part of the company’s plan to showcase Ireland on the global stage both in terms of content production and as a hub for international production.
“The Big Deal is a spectacular new entertainment show filming in Dublin’s 3Arena and is on a scale not seen in Ireland before. Fox Alternative Entertainment, BiggerStage and Virgin Media Television have joined forces for this unique partnership to create a landmark new entertainment format,” said Bill Malone, Virgin Media Television’s director of content, in a release.
Added Pat Kiely, BiggerStage’s founder and CEO: “The Big Deal really is a very big deal for us and also for Ireland as we deliver a world first. It puts BiggerStage firmly where we want it to be, pioneering new production models, working with great talent and partnering with international entertainment brands.”
