Reed Expositions France and MIPCOM/MIPTV organizers Reed MIDEM, French subsidiaries of RX (Reed Exhibitions), are merging under the banner of RX France.

Aside from the MIPCOM and MIPTV television content conferences, the merged entity will house myriad events covering 20 industry sectors, including global real estate market MIPIM and retail property market MAPIC.

Michel Filzi, chief executive of Reed Expositions France since 2014 and CEO of Reed MIDEM since October 2020, is heading up the new entity.

“Uniting our two companies, Reed Expositions France and Reed MIDEM, brings together a portfolio of outstanding brands, leaders in their respective sectors and markets, as well as merging the experience and professionalism of our teams,” said Filzi in a statement. “This is a real opportunity for us to support our clients in their strategic development by organizing events that are more and more innovative, inclusive and invigorating. Our objective is to help our clients build their businesses by offering solutions that are physical, digital and hybrid.”

In other MIPCOM-related news, the annual Cannes-based conference has opened its call for entries for its Diversify TV Excellence Awards, now moving into its fifth year.

The awards, spotlighting diversity and inclusion in all its forms across the international television industry, are slated to take place on October 13 in a presentation at the Palais des Festivals’ Grand Auditorium, which will also be livestreamed for remote viewers. This year’s MIPCOM is expected to move ahead as an in-person event from October 11-14.

“Five years ago we set out to recognize and celebrate programs that harness the influence of the entertainment industry to drive change for good,” said Lucy Smith, director of MIPCOM, in a statement. “Since then each year has brought a greater number of excellent entries, from countries and companies big and small, that challenge our world views and have a positive impact on society and our industry. We look forward very much to seeing this year’s selection and awarding the winners in person at our much-anticipated reunion in Cannes.”
