Discovery+ lands “Love In Paradise: The Caribbean”

Discovery+ has announced Love In Paradise: The Caribbean (pictured), a new docusoap launching on the non-fiction streaming service this summer.

The series, which was announced during upfronts last month, follows four couples — one American and one local islander — who met in the Caribbean and are trying to make their relationships work despite the distance. From a fling that led to a pregnancy to a couple reconnecting after a decade, viewers will see which couples can make it work.

Love in Paradise: The Caribbean is produced by Sharp Entertainment and will debut on Discovery+ on July 18.

Quintus Studios names new creative director

Berlin-based content creator Quintus Studios has appointed Adam Jacobs as its new creative director.

Based in London, Jacobs will report to Quintus founder and managing director Gerrit Kemming. He’ll be responsible for the company’s overall editorial strategy including Quintus Originals, projects developed for the company’s owned and operated channels, including Free Documentary, FD Real and ENDEVR and co-produced with the international market, as well as pre-sale funded projects with existing production partners.

Jacobs brings more than 18 years of experience in unscripted production to the role, having previously commissioned, developed and executive produced documentaries for both the UK and international markets. He was a development consultant for CIC Media and Back2Back Productions, a development executive at Zig Zag Productions, an executive producer at Woodcut Media and Discovery Networks International and director of factual programming at Discovery UK & Western Europe.

“We are delighted to have Adam on board. With his wealth of experience in unscripted programming and his understanding of legacy and digital markets, Adam is the perfect fit to lead the company into its next phase of growth,” said Kemming in a release.

All3Media, NBCUniversal bringing “Cash at Your Door” to U.S.

UK-based indie distributor All3Media International and NBCUniversal have announced a deal for the game show Cash at Your Door to be licensed to the E! Network in the U.S.

Under the agreement, All3Media’s sister company Lion USA will produce the American adaptation. The new deal follows a similar agreement that saw All3Media license Celebrity Call Centre to E! last year.

Cash at Your Door began as an Amir Matar Production for Channel 10 in Israel, and sees contestants answering increasingly tough questions at their doors to win, with the final prize of $25,000. The U.S. version of the show will be hosted by actor Jason Biggs (American Pie).

The new deal with E! means the Cash at Your Door format has been adapted across three continents.

“We are delighted to see Cash at Your Door continuing to travel globally and prove its universal adaptability,” said Nick Smith, All3Media’s executive vice president of formats in a release. “Matar’s founder Aminadav Amir has created a fun, flexible and timeless format that is perfect for family viewing, whilst also being highly cost effective and easy to produce in international markets.”
