Fox to air TMZ doc on UFOs
Fox will broadcast a one-hour special about the U.S. government’s recent revelations about UFOs, TMZ Investigates: UFOs: The Pentagon Proof, on June 29.
The special comes ahead of the U.S. government’s plan to declassify materials surrounding UFOs this month. The TMZ special promises never-before-seen video of UFOs filmed from the deck of a U.S. naval ship, as well as interviews with scientists, ex-Pentagon officials, politicians and more.
TMZ Investigates: UFOs: The Pentagon Proof was produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Telepictures. It was executive produced by Harvey Levin and Ryan Regan, with Jess Fusco serving as co-executive producer.
Autentic announces summer slate
Coinciding with Sunny Side of the Doc, Germany’s Autentic Distribution has revealed its summer slate, showing a strong focus on history, travel and wildlife programming.
Among the lineup of titles announced by Autentic are The Secret History of the Euro, a feature documentary on the 20th anniversary of the currency, from award-winning director and journalist Annalisa Piras and Taglicht Media; The End of a Superpower: The Collapse of the Soviet Union (pictured), a one-off special from German prodco Hoferichter & Jacobs; Building Empires: China (3 x 60 minutes), about the history and culture of China through the modern day; the standalone docu-drama JFK’s Love for Europe, produced by Vincent TV; and Light & Glamour: History of the French Riviera, a one-off special featuring archival footage of the glory days of the Côte d’Azur.
On the wildlife side, Autentic is shopping Survival of the Fittest in the Alps, from German prodco doc.station, about different species in the iconic mountains; Wildlife Diaries Australia (6 x 45), about scientists fighting to preserve animals’ natural habitats; Apennine Mountains: The Wild Heart of Italy (2 x 45) takes viewers on a cinematic journey across the Italian mountains; and a second season of Italian production company GiUMa Produzioni’s The Stone Men (6 x 45).
Autentic has also added the 6 x 45-minute technology series Colossal Machines, about some of the world’s largest machines. It’s Autentic’s second co-production with Canada’s Go Button Media following the popular series The Animal Within. Colossal Machines is available for pre-sale.
Oxygen unveils crime series Charmed to Death
NBCUniversal cable net Oxygen will premiere a new documentary series, Charmed to Death, this summer.
The series features criminals who used their charm to deceive and manipulate victims into romantic relationships, with each episode focusing on a different charismatic killer who charmed their victims, tracing their acts of fraud and seduction.
