Simon Cowell is returning to Britain’s ITV for Walk the Line, a new musical game show series co-produced and co-developed by Syco Entertainment and Lifted Entertainment.
The six-part TV event will see musical acts perform for the nation and a panel of judges led by Cowell. The top two performers will then choose between “cashing out” with a cash reward or “walk the line” and keep playing for a chance to progress to the next show and face a new cast of performers, providing a high-stakes “stay or play” moment every episode. The longer contestants remain in the competition, the larger the prize pot gets.
Walk the Line comes from ITV Studios and the team behind ITV successes like I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and Love Island. It’s set to premiere on ITV and ITV Hub later this year. The international rollout will be handled by ITV Studios.
“The format Syco and Lifted Entertainment have created has all the makings of quintessential game show entertainment, but with a compelling twist thrown in each show. It’s great to be continuing our working relationship with Simon and I look forward to introducing this edge of your seat musical game show to viewers later in the year,” said ITV head of entertainment Katie Rawcliffe in a release.
