Altitude Factual and BirdDog Media have teamed up to produce Close Encounters, a series about the relationships between people and animals in their natural habitats.

The 13 x 30-minute series reveals the journeys of people who have developed connections with animals in the wild, including dolphins, platypus, sharks, dugongs, pangolins and bears. The series digs into how people are able to communicate with wildlife through these close connections, and the effect it has had on their lives.

Filming is scheduled to begin this fall.

Close Encounters is executive produced by Paul Sowerbutts, the head of Altitude Factual, and Clark Bunting, the executive chair of BirdDog Media Ventures. The series is also produced by Stephen Ellis from BirdDog Media and Jeremy Bradshaw from Altitude Factual.

“This series takes a very fresh look at truly close, intimate relationships between humans and wild animals and has very high quality natural history filming,” Sowerbutts said in a release.

“We know the global audience has a desire to explore a closer contact with nature and this series will take them there in locations across the planet.”
