Non-fiction TV producer Pilgrim Media Group, a Lionsgate company, signed a first-look deal with Dantar Productions, the company announced on Tuesday (July 13).
The agreement will see Pilgrim and Dantar develop and produce unscripted TV series and formats for a variety of partners across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
“Their company’s mission of serving as a home for discovering and nourishing creative voices and exciting unscripted stories aligns with ours, making them a perfect partner,” said Craig Piligian, president of Lionsgate Nonfiction Television and Pilgrim CEO, in a news release.
Dantar was founded in 2018 by Dani Behr (pictured, left) and Tara Joseph (pictured, right). Joseph began her entertainment career as a talent agent at WME representing talent like Victoria Beckham, Charlie Hunnam and Jamie Dornan, and later worked in music management. Behr is the former host of the UK series The Word and has hosted and contributed to many other TV and radio shows in the U.S., UK and Canada.
“Pilgrim is the best of the best in the unscripted world so we couldn’t be more thrilled to begin this new venture with them,” Behr and Joseph said in a news release.
“Craig, Gretchen and the entire Pilgrim family are incredible creators and executives who are passionate about the nonfiction business, and we’re very excited for all the premium programming we’ll create together.”
Dantar is beginning its partnership with Pilgrim with multiple series in development in the home and property space. The company is represented by UTA.
