TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé franchise is once again spinning off, this time in the UK on Discovery+.
90 Day Fiancé UK, from Red Arrow Studios’ CPL Productions, follows six British couples who have found “the one” abroad as they navigate their first 90 days together in the UK.
Characters in the 12 x 60-minute series each have 90 days from the moment their significant other lands in the UK to wed or else the non-Brits will have to return home before their fiancé visa runs out.
Boland said in a statement: “Creating exciting and innovative entertainment shows is what we love doing at CPL. This format immediately leapt out as a show that fits alongside our other programmes, making it our own for a UK audience. The additional bonus of being part of an exciting slate of new programmes at Discovery made it an opportunity not to be missed.”
Discovery UK also commissioned the 90-minute documentary The Poisonings (w/t) for Discovery+.
The film will delve into the infamous 2018 attack on Sergei Skripal, a former Russian spy, and the long-lasting impact the poisoning has had on the English city of Salisbury.
Produced by DSP, a Banijay UK company, the documentary is slated to launch on Discovery+ this winter.
In March 2018, a former Russian agent, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, Yulia Skripal, were taken to a hospital where they spent several weeks recovering from what was later found to be a poisoning attack from Novichok nerve agent.
The Salisbury event was soon met with widespread media attention as well as an intensified political debate surrounding Russia’s operations. By the end of March 2018, the British government expelled 153 Russian diplomats following the accusations of the poisoning attack.
The Poisonings (w/t) will shed light on the impact the events had on the city, featuring testimony from those impacted.
Simon Downing, head of factual and docs at Discovery, said in a statement: “DSP has done an incredible job turning this extremely complex story into a gripping and emotional documentary.”
The series was ordered for Discovery+ by Downing, commissioned by Victoria Noble and executive produced by Jeremy Phillips for Discovery.
