TBS is turning one of the iconic segments from The Late Show with David Letterman into a series with Stupid Pet Tricks.

The 10 x 30-minute comedy variety show will be hosted by Sarah Silverman (pictured) and will showcase the bond between people and their pets as they perform ridiculous and impressive tricks before a live audience and celebrity guests, with the winner taking the title of “Stupidest Trick of the Week.”

Production on Stupid Pet Tricks begins in Los Angeles later this year. The show is executive produced by Jay Blumenfield and Tony Marsh of The Jay & Tony Show (Tournament of Laughs) with Worldwide Pants (The Late Show with David Letterman) for TBS. Letterman, Silverman and Amy Zvi are executive producers, with Merrill Markoe serving as a consulting producer.

“Continuing our strategic commitment to a bold unscripted slate that Corie Henson and her team have implemented and building off the incredible successes of Go-Big Show and Wipeout we knew we had to elevate our roster by looking at the greats of television history and learning from their innovation,” said Brett Weitz, general manager of TBS, TNT and truTV, in a release.

Added Silverman “The rule in show business is, ‘never work with animals or children’ but I choose to work with David Letterman anyway.”
