If you don’t want to diet, try it.
Employing a combination of visual effects, technology and psychological techniques, an hour-long special by Banijay UK’s Remarkable TV has been commissioned by Channel 4 with the aim of helping viewers struggling with weight loss.
Don’t Diet, Lose Weight challenges the idea of dieting by focusing on the psychology behind eating habits.
With the assistance and support of psychologist specialists, two contributors come face-to-face with avatar versions of their future selves in the Don’t Diet, Lose Weight hub.
Through visualization and challenges set by a team of experts, two women are retrained to improve their relationship with food and self-esteem.
As they met these challenges, their future avatars serve as a guide, stepping in when they need encouragement and reminding them of their personal goals.
In a statement, Kitty Walshe, managing director (factual) for Remarkable TV, said Don’t Diet, Lose Weight is based on the success of VFX-driven shows Your Home Made Perfect and Virtually History.
“This show is not about fad diets; it’s about testing the theory of when you can see what you’re aiming for: Do you strive harder to achieve it?”
Commissioning editor for Don’t Diet, Lose Weight is Deborah Dunnett, with Charlotte Smith acting as executive producer for Remarkable TV.
