UK channel CBS Reality is planning to heat up the fall with a slate of new and acquired true crime programming. Among the launches are the premieres of Donal MacIntyre: Released to Kill and Murder: First on the Scene.
MacIntyre (10 x 60 minutes) is hosted by journalist/criminologist Donal MacIntyre (pictured). The series explores the criminal investigations behind murders committed by previously convicted individuals. MacIntyre talks to a range of experts, including leading criminal psychiatrists, prosecutors, probation officers and prison governors, to delve into the killers’ motivations and the sequence of events that often occur just days after their release from prison.
The series was produced by Emporium Productions and will premiere November 3.
Murder: First on Scene, meanwhile, starts with the arrival of first responders on scene and follows them throughout their murder investigation. The 10 x 60-minute series was produced by Phoenix Television and premieres November 16.
The channel will also debut a number of acquisitions, including the UK TV premieres of season 13 of Snapped: Killer Couples, new episodes of Homicide’s Elite, season three and 16 of Medical Detectives as well as the Medical Detectives: 25 Years Special, which are exclusive to CBS Reality in the UK.
“These new and returning CBS Reality original series are true representations of expert-led factual content which reinforce our strategy to offer authentic and compelling programming to UK audiences,” noted Sam Rowden, vice president of content and production, CBS Channels, in a release.
AMC Networks International – UK distributes CBS Reality as part of a joint venture with ViacomCBS.
