The National Association of Broadcasters announced on Wednesday (Sept. 15) that it has cancelled the 2021 NAB show scheduled to be held in Las Vegas this year.
The NAB had been working on hosting the event for more than a year, but announced on its website due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a surge of Delta variant cases.
“As we have always kept the best interest and safety of the industry as our priority, it has become apparent in the face of these challenges that we can no longer effectively host NAB Show or our co-located events, the Radio Show and Sales and Management Television Exchange, in person,” a statement from the NAB on the board’s website reads.
The annual trade show had been scheduled for Oct. 9 to 13.
The organization said it would not move forward with a show that doesn’t deliver the usual standard it provides. Instead, the organization is looking to hold the 2022 NAB Show from April 23 to 27, next year.
The NAB added they will provide details at a later date about virtual options for accessing select 2021 NAB show content through NAB Amplify.
