International formats consultancy The Format People (TFP) and Latin American TV content provider Litopos Producciones have signed a new strategic alliance to develop joint initiatives that the two organizations say will build on each other’s strengths.
The new arrangement will see the two companies create, develop and produce new unscripted formats for the Latin American market initially, to be followed by a global rollout across several territories.
The two companies have collaborated on various projects in recent years, including two seasons of The Format People’s hit international culinary format Chef In Your Ear, created by TFP CCO Justin Scroggie (pictured right), and have several jointly-developed formats being considered by Netflix LatAm, Mexico’s Televisa, and Colombia’s RCN.
Litopos produced a variety of reality, game shows, and live events, with recent productions including Mexico’s Next Top Model (three seasons for Sony LatAm); Acapulco Shore (four seasons for MTV/Viacom); Asi Somos (for Unicable/Televisa); and live events such as Lucha Libre AAA Mexico. The partnership with Litopos is part of TFP’s strategy to sign similar agreements with independent producers in key format territories around the globe.
“The Format People bring original cleverly simple ideas and meticulous development to the table, as well as consummate experience and great contacts in the international formats marketplace,” said Litopos CEO Juan Maldonado in a release.
Added The Format People CEO Michel Rodrigue (pictured left): “Juan and his team at Litopos originate and produce top-quality television and have a powerful understanding and well-earned reputation in Latin America, so together we can create, produce and bring to market compelling content across genres and for all platforms.”
