The WaterBear Network – the first VOD platform dedicated to the future of our planet – has reiterated its commitment to the North American market with the launch of a U.S. Advisory Council.

The first Council appointee is David Evans Shaw, who will support WaterBear in its core business areas – content production, distribution, and marketing to strategic partnerships and fundraising.

Shaw is an industry veteran who comes to the table with extensive experience in business building, impact investment, activism and public service through his time as managing partner of Black Point Group and CEO of IDEXX Laboratories. His board experience includes the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, Nautilus Magazine, The Jackson Laboratory, American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Aspen High Seas Initiative, among many others.

“We are excited to welcome David Shaw as our first advisory council member,” said Ellen Windemuth, CEO and Founder of WaterBear in a statement. “His experience will be invaluable as we accelerate our expansion in the U.S. market and continue to evolve our content offering to members of the U.S. and Canadian public.”

Currently available in 40 markets, WaterBear showcases award-winning documentaries as well as original content inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). WaterBear members are able to freely stream video at any time, on any device.

WaterBear’s U.S. Advisory Council is set to expand over the coming months, with more appointments announced in 2021.
