A new Discovery+ series will feature wildlife biologist Forrest Galante (host of Animal Planet’s Extinct or Alive) tracking and rediscovering animals thought to be lost to extinction.

Mysterious Creatures with Forrest Galante will air on Animal Planet beginning Oct. 17 at 9 pm ET/PT, and stream on Discovery+ the same day. Galante, along with his wife and zoologist Jessica Summerfield, will travel around the world to investigate reports of ‘strange sightings,’ ‘legendary creatures’ and ‘mysterious encounters’ between humans and wildlife, with the goal of ending conflict between these animals and people before the wildlife becomes extinct.

In Galante’s work, he’s rediscovered animals such as the Fernandina Tortoise and the Dracula monkey. Over the course of the season, Galante will travel to his childhood home on the Zambezi River, to a remote tribal village in Mozambique where he tracks down one of Africa’s last remaining giant bull elephants, to the waterways in the Pacific Northwest to follow local lore of dragon-like monsters residing in the area, and more.

The series is produced by Hot Snakes Media. Galante, Eric Evangelista and Shannon Evangelista serve as executive producers for Hot Snakes, Keith Hoffman is an executive producer for Animal Planet and Sarah Russell is a supervising producer.
