MTV International to debut Domestic Violence & Me: Mia’s Story
MTV International will premiere a new hour-long special, Domestic Violence & Me: Mia’s Story, about Teen Mom UK star Mia Boardman’s experiences as a victim of domestic violence.
The documentary will air on MTV channels outside of the U.S. beginning on Oct. 13, and it features powerful interview footage of Boardman (pictured) sharing her story and speaking to friends, survivors, counselors, police and a former abuser to spread awareness about domestic abuse.
Organizations providing domestic violence services and resources, who served advisory roles and were featured within the documentary include: Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS), Splitz Support Services, Bristol University and Women’s Aid.
Domestic Violence & Me: Mia’s Story was commissioned for MTV International by Kerry Taylor and Craig Orr, and executive produced by Iestyn Barker and Jamie Brannan. The documentary is also produced by True North, with executive producers Jessica Fowle and Fiona O’Sullivan.
Discovery+ adds paranormal doc Curse of the Highgate Vampire
Discovery has announced its commissioned a new paranormal documentary, The Curse of the Highgate Vampire, for its Discovery+ streaming service as part of its Halloween-themed content slate to air globally later this fall.
The 60-minute special is produced by Big Little Fish Television and examines the legacy of Britain’s Highgate Cemetery, which in the 1970s was the focus of bizarre reports of phenomena like bodies rising from graves, bite marks appearing on a woman’s neck and sightings of a dark figure with red eyes walking among the graves. It led to the Victorian cemetery becoming a vampire hunting ground, with tombs opened, coffins destroyed and corpses desecrated. The Curse of the Highgate Vampire follows a group of paranormal thrill-seekers as they lock themselves inside Highgate Cemetery to record paranormal evidence that reignites the 50-year-old investigation.
The doc was ordered for Discovery+ by Clare Laycock, commissioned by Charlotte Reid and executive produced by Deirdre Dowling for Discovery, with Mark Procter and Steve Jones producing for Big Little Fish.
Channel 4 acquires Inside Beverly Hills from Spun Gold TV
Britain’s Channel 4 has picked up a new lifestyle series, Inside Beverly Hills: The Land of the Rich and Famous, from Spun Gold TV.
The 3 x 60-minute series explores one of the most glamorous and iconic locations on the planet, revealing a new side to the playground of the rich, beautiful and famous. The series will give viewers a glimpse into the opulent homes, hotels and offices to see how the other half lives. The series features the entrepreneurs, estate agents, stylists and designers catering to the whims of the Hollywood stars, social media super-influencers, aristocrats and millionaires who live and work in Beverly Hills.
Inside Beverly Hills: The Land of the Rich and Famous is a Spun Gold TV production for Channel 4. Charlie Clay is executive producer. The series was part funded by All3Media International, which has worldwide distribution rights.
