Magnify Media has sold the North American streaming rights to the upcoming Plimsoll Productions format Handmade: Good with Wood to Discovery+, the company announced on Tuesday (Oct. 19).
The news comes just as the British version of the format launches on Oct. 21 as Handmade: Britain’s Best Woodworker, hosted by Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Baking Show). Earlier this year, Fremantle acquired the format production rights in more than 20 territories including France, Spain, Italy, India, Mexico, Israel, Australia, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Poland and Indonesia. The format was also optioned to Germany and the program rights pre-sold to multiple territories globally.
The format sees the most talented woodworkers creating beautiful and ambitious builds. Each episode features a series of competitive rounds centering around a ‘Big Build.’ Contestants are challenged to build large, imaginative wooden structures and objects, displaying their technique, creativity and artistry to a panel of expert judges.
“The incredible global pre-sale of Handmade: Good with Wood underscores both a significant appetite for premium unscripted content and an exciting trend to have streamers acquire UK factual series,” said Andrea Jackson, Magnify Media CEO.
“We’re thrilled that viewers across the world will be able to experience the excitement of this competition and become inspired by the vision of these extraordinary artisans.”
