BBC One was awarded Channel of the Year at this year’s Edinburgh TV Awards, in a digital ceremony hosted by comedian Kae Kurd.
A total of 18 accolades for the UK TV industry were highlighted at the award ceremony, with seven going to Channel 4. Highlighting the non-fiction recipients was America’s War on Abortion from ITV winning Best Documentary; Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back, which won Best Popular Factual Series; and Roman Kemp who took home won Best TV Presenter
Other major recipients included Bad Wolf, which was awarded Production Company of the Year, while Small Indie of the Year went to Flick Productions. Sky Arts won Specialist Channel of the Year, Sky Sports featuring Sky Zero took home the Green Award, and All 4 was named the Best On Demand Service. Finally, All3Media International was given the Global Success Award for the second consecutive year.
“Huge congratulations to all of the Edinburgh TV Awards winners, a line-up that truly takes in the best talent, producers, writers, and channels – and celebrates the incredible work of the brilliant people in our industry,” said Stewart Clarke, Edinburgh TV Festival creative director, in a news release.
Edinburgh TV Awards were also given to Jodie Comer for the Variety Outstanding Achievement Award, We are Lady Parts for Best Comedy Series, It’s a Sin for Best Drama Series, Lupin for Best International Drama, and Rob & Romesh vs. for Best Entertainment Series.
