Documentary streamer MagellanTV announced on Monday (Oct. 25) it has launched True Crime Now, a linear streaming channel, in North America.
The service is debuting in Canada on The Roku Channel and is available on Roku TVs and Roku players. It features more than 1,000 true crime documentary films and series, with new content added weekly, curated by MagellanTV. The channel is overseen by Chelsea Lauzun, Magellan’s senior vice president of operations.
“True crime is enormously popular on MagellanTV,” said MagellanTV managing director Greg Diefenbach in a news release.
“As our library of true crime series, specials and features continues to grow, it’s become clear that the genre warrants a channel of its own. The demand for true crime has never been higher.”
MagellanTV has said it may develop original content for the channel in the future, and that it will soon have more to share on launching the channel in the U.S.
Featured series and films that will be included on True Crime Now include Crime Files with David Wilson, A Shallow Grave, A True Crime Mystery, The Monsters Among Us and Double Murder: The Inside Story.
MagellanTV already offers a deep library of factual content that also spans history, science, biography, nature and the arts, as well as a growing slate of 4K content.
