Longtime SVT executive Stephen Mowbray is heading to Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group as head of series and kids.

Mowbray will be responsible for acquiring series and children’s content in all Nordic markets for Viaplay, NENT Group’s leading Scandinavian streaming service. His appointment is effective as of the start of 2022. NENT Group has said Mowbray will be based in Stockholm and report to Louise Faerch, vice president of Viaplay and Viafree programming.

NENT Group is bringing Mowbray in from SVT, where he’s worked as head of acquisitions since 2008.

“I am looking forward to joining the positive energy and ambition of the NENT Group team and to making Viaplay the go-to destination for the world’s best acquired series,” Mowbray said in a statement.

The move comes as NENT Group looks to roll out Viaplay service to new markets, with previously announced plans to launch in markets including the U.S. next year and Canada by 2023.
