The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) has elected longtime Lionsgate executive Kevin Beggs as the organization’s new chair of its board of directors.

Beggs will take over the position from Randy Lennox, who served as chairperson for three years. Beggs has worked at Lionsgate for 23 years, and already serves as the company’s television group chair and as a member of its corporate senior management team.

“One of the industry’s most respected executives, Kevin has been a long-time board member and a genuine champion of the festival in Hollywood and around the world. It’s an honor to welcome him as our new chair. His creative vision and passion for the business is a perfect match to help us to continue delivering on the festival’s mandate to grow and serve the industry,” said Banff executive director Jenn Kuzmyk in a statement.

The Banff World Media Festival, owned by Realscreen parent company Brunico Communications, is a marketplace and conference celebrating its 43rd year in 2022. Media moguls, producers, creatives and industry stakeholders gather there each year with broadcasters and digital media companies to discuss issues and trends in the industry, while building relationships and partnerships.

At Lionsgate, Beggs spearheaded the company’s TV production operations expansion to become one of the largest independent TV businesses in the industry. In 2018, Beggs was named Lionsgate chief content integration officer, overseeing Lionsgate 360, the approach to develop new content from past Lionsgate intellectual properties across its businesses.

In 2017, Beggs was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame, and he’s served on the board and executive committees of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Los Angeles Paley Center for Media and the National Association of Television Program Executives.
