Los Angeles-based World of Wonder — the production company behind the Emmy-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race and HBO’s Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes among other projects — has fortified its executive team with the addition of Dave Snyder as SVP, docs and current programming.

Reporting to World of Wonder co-founders Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey, Snyder will oversee several new and returning documentary and reality series for various platforms, collaborating with showrunners and networks on each program while also developing projects for World of Wonder in the doc space.

Snyder was most recently an executive producer of development for the Joe Berlinger Group at RadicalMedia, developing projects with the Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker, such as Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, and Murder Among the Mormons for Netflix; and Confronting a Serial Killer for Starz.

Prior to that, Snyder worked with Cineflix Productions, where he served as VP of development, as well as Alex Gibney’s New York-headquartered Jigsaw Productions as VP of development and production, and also had stints with Moxie Firecracker, Jax Media and Zero Point Zero.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dave to our ever-growing WOW family,” said Barbato and Bailey in a joint statement. “His extensive background across scripted, unscripted, and documentaries is unparalleled and we look forward to watching him step into this role and help further WOW’s mission to develop projects that push the boundaries of narrative storytelling.”

“I’ve admired Los Angeles-based World of Wonder for years, but as a die-hard New Yorker it seemed we wouldn’t have the opportunity to work together…until now,” added Snyder. “The pandemic has shown us all how easy it is to effectively communicate across continents and I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity to be a part of their wildly entertaining, stealthily subversive, herstory-making documentary and unscripted programming.”

The move comes as World of Wonder ramps up its already considerable doc portfolio through the launch of its WOW Docs division last year. Headed by Jim Fraenkel, the division launched the critically acclaimed 2020 film Wojnarowicz: F**k You F*ggot F**ker, which was picked up for distribution by Kino Lorber.
