It’s Gone Viral, a Manchester-based social media brand that delivers news, documentaries and short videos, has launched a mini docuseries called Road to Recovery.
The series covers issues such as domestic abuse, forced prostitution, trafficking and addiction, sharing victims’ raw experiences and exploring their life-changing recoveries. The series is debuting on the brand’s Facebook page.
It’s Gone Viral is owned by KOMI Group and has partnered with organizations such as the homeless social enterprise Beam to spotlight some of the issues affecting people in the UK and to break down stigma surrounding those issues and who they impact.
“This project is about giving victims a voice and letting them share their powerful stories, completely unfiltered,” said Andrew Trotmant, It’s Gone Viral co-founder, in a news release. “The entire purpose of the documentary series is to start conversations, no matter how uncomfortable they may be.
“We are so pleased to be working with social enterprises such as Beam to help bring these issues to light and also, maybe most importantly, to prompt action. Most of these people have faced stigma because of their past, and we want to actively help them by changing common misconceptions.”
