Global distributor Red Arrow Studios International is teaming with Netherlands-headquartered production company Stepping Stone Productions for a social experiment format set to premiere in 2022 on the Dutch network NPO3.
My New Mystery Job features participants looking for a life change who sign up to work at a new job without knowing what it is. Mirroring current trends in which people are re-evaluating their work-life relationships and their levels of fulfillment with their work, the format will feature people who have to quit their original jobs and try out a new position over the span of six months. Participants’ skills, aptitudes and work/life aspirations are assessed by a group of experts who then help determine new roles for the cast members.
The bare minimum of information is presented regarding the new jobs — salary and location — and if the participants take on the challenge, in six months’ time they need to decide if they will stay on their new paths or try to return to their former vocations.
“At Red Arrow we are well known for our thought-provoking, commercially successful social experiment formats and this is a show that captures the zeitgeist perfectly,” said Tim Gerhartz (pictured), president & managing director at Red Arrow Studios International, in a statement. “We are looking forward to presenting it to our clients and partners around the world.”
“We had a lot of interest in My New Mystery Job from international distributors, but for us, Red Arrow was the best fit,” added Duurt Holman, creative director at Stepping Stone Productions. “They are very successful at distributing daring social experiment formats like Buying Blind, Meat the Family and Married at First Sight and we are excited that My New Mystery Job will be in the same catalog.”
