Netflix has slated a December 10 premiere date for the spinoff Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story.
The announcement comes just weeks after the launch of the sequel series, Tiger King 2, which revisits the characters and controversies from Netflix’s original docuseries, which blew up as a pop culture phenomenon early in the pandemic.
The new spinoff will explore the eccentric Antle, one of the breakout characters from the popular Netflix documentary series. The three-part series will delve into Antle’s background to unpack the truth about the animal-loving showman and allegations of abuse and intimidation from witnesses who have come forward to tell their stories.
Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story was directed by Tiger King directors Rebecca Chaiklin and Eric Goode and executive produced by Chaiklin, Goode, Chris Smith, Fisher Stevens and Jeremy McBride.
The spin-off is the latest in a slew of Tiger King-related content that has appeared on myriad platforms since the blockbuster success of the original series. Discovery+ premiered Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight in mid-November, and the central protagonist of the original docuseries, Joe Exotic, has been the subject of scores of programs.
