Seoul-based global format agency Something Special has signed a co-development partnership with Michael Yudin‘s MY Entertainment Productions.

The agreement will see both companies initially co-developing three new unscripted formats for major U.S. networks and streaming platforms as well as the international marketplace.

The three formats chosen for the deal were selected following a project earlier this year funded by KOCCA (Korean Creative Content Agency) assembling several top Korean producers. The concepts chosen by MY Entertainment are seen by the company as the best formats for potential success both in the U.S. and internationally.

The formats included in the co-development deal are Smashed Hits (w/t), a primetime game show from producer Eunseol Mo in which competitors try to identify songs that have been mixed together to the point of being barely recognizable; Inseparables (w/t), a lockdown-inspired competition series from Sehwa Kim where couples try to overcome issues presented by living in smaller and smaller quarters to win the prize of a dream house; and The Quizzy Horror Show (w/t), a competition series from producer Jiyoon Kim that rewards contestants for not flinching at terrifying sights.

“We are thrilled to bring Something Special together with MY Entertainment,” said Something Special co-founders Jin Woo Hwang (pictured left) and InSoon Kim (pictured right) in a release. “Our talented Korean producers — Enseol Mo, Sehwa Kim and Jiyoon Kim — look forward to collaborating with Michael and his extraordinary team at MY Entertainment. They have long been a prominent industry player with their eyes on the Korean market and it is the perfect time for us to finally walk down the aisle especially when Korean creativity is being recognized more than ever.”

“We’re equally excited to begin working with Jin Woo and InSoon and Something Special’s great team of highly creative producers while leveraging our personal industry relationships in the U.S. and across the globe to find homes for these shows,” added MY Entertainment president and founder Michael Yudin. “Our new partnership with Something Special marks another benchmark for MY Entertainment’s strategy of expanding its activities with leaders in the Korean creative production community.”
