In the lead-up to Super Bowl LVI on February 13, NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock will premiere Earnin’ It: The NFL’s Forward Progress, a five-part docuseries from NFL Films that shines a spotlight on the women who are changing the face of the National Football League.
The series’ first episode will drop on Peacock on January 23, with subsequent episodes available each week following. Episodes one and two will also air on NBC on January 30 and February 5, respectively.
Narrated by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ciara (wife of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson), Earnin’ It takes an up-close-and-personal look at the women who have stormed the previously all-male bastion of the NFL. Subjects include Sarah Thomas, the NFL’s first full-time field official; Jennifer King, assistant running backs coach for the Washington Football Team; and Lori Locust, assistant defensive line coach for last year’s Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The series will also include interviews with and appearances by notable names from around the NFL, such as Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott, New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley and legendary defensive back Deion Sanders.
“This series introduces us to some of the coolest women in the country,” said Jane Skinner Goodell, who shares executive producer credit on Earnin’ It with Teri Wagner Flynn. “Their paths to the NFL are very different, but they share an intense passion and intellect for the game of football. Their drive to be the best is inspiring. What an honor to tell their stories.”
“I am honored to be a part of something so special that will undoubtedly be meaningful to so many people,” Ciara said. “I am awe-inspired by [these women's] incredible stories and am grateful to be part of sharing them with the world.”
The series’ final two episodes will air in the two weeks following the Super Bowl, and will include a look at how women across the NFL contributed to the Big Game of the league’s 2021-22 season.
