UK-based post-production facility Evolutions is expanding its services with a £200,000 investment in Flame facilities and three editorial hirings, with the aim of attracting high-end documentaries.

Evolutions is one of the UK’s largest independent full-service post-production groups, with facilities in London and Bristol. The company hopes its new Flame facilities will enable it to further expand into the high-end documentary genre, following successful series like BBC One’s Serengeti, BBC America’s Meerkat Manor and Sky’s Gangs of Baboon Falls.

Des Murray, who worked previously as head of editing at Molinare, will join Evolutions on Jan. 18 as a senior Flame artist. He’s worked on recent hit documentaries like Don’t F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer and Memories of a Murderer: The Nilson Tapes for Netflix, as well as BBC’s The Trials of Oscar Pistorius. He’ll be based in Evolutions’ Sheraton Street facility.

Laurence Thripp, previously senior online editor at Molinare, will work in the same role for Evolutions. His credits include Uprising for Amazon Prime Video, Louis Theroux: Shooting Joe Exotic for BBC, and Sky Original’s Queen of Speed.

Afzal Ali joined Evolutions as an editor in December, bringing experience from titles like MasterChef and Don’t Tell the Bride for BBC and TLC’s Most Extreme. Ali also worked at Molinare prior to working as a freelancer.

“Our growth in high-end documentaries represents a new era for us at Evolutions, and we are proud to have such a strong line-up of talent to kickstart this for us this year,” said Simon Kanjee, Evolutions CEO. “Our new Flame facilities are demonstrative of our commitment to our new talent and our continued development as an industry-leading force in the post-production space.”
