The Producers Guild of America has released the list of nominees in its non-fiction and game/competition television categories for its 33rd annual awards.
This year’s field for Outstanding Producer of Non-Fiction TV comprises CBS’ 60 Minutes; HBO’s Allen vs. Farrow; Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot; CNN’s celeb travel show Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy; and The Beatles: Get Back (pictured), Peter Jackson’s lauded Fab Four docuseries for Disney+.
In the Outstanding Producer of Game & Competition category, the contenders are America’s Got Talent and The Voice, both from NBC; on the culinary side of things, Netflix’s bake-off show Nailed It! and Bravo’s Top Chef; and the fourteenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, from VH1.
These nominees followed its December 10 announcement of the nominees in its feature docs category. The previously announced nominees in the Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures category are Ascension, The First Wave, Flee, In the Same Breath, Summer of Soul, The Rescue, Simple as Water and Writing with Fire.
Additionally, one more doc made it into this year’s PGA noms. Tom Petty: Somewhere You Feel Free, about the making of the late Heartbreakers headman’s milestone solo album Wildflowers, was nominated in the otherwise scripted-dominated category of Outstanding Producer of Televised or Streamed Motion Pictures.
Balloting for the 2022 Producers Guild Awards will end on March 8, with the presentation ceremony scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on March 19.
