UK-based indie Arrow Media has hired Stephen Dost to the position of executive producer, effective immediately.

The hiring of Dost (pictured) comes as Arrow aims to increase its presence in the U.S. market and looks to secure future commissions from U.S. streamers and networks.

Dost will be based out of New York, and his role will be split between development and production. He will be part of the senior team overseeing the development of new projects for American streamers, broadcasters and cable networks, as well as helping to spearhead the production of new and returning shows on Arrow Media’s slate, which includes U.S. content such as Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Disney+); See No Evil, American Monster, BodyCam, Caught in the Net and Love, Honor, Betray (ID, Discovery+); and the recently announced 15-part science series Oops I Changed the World for Curiosity.

Prior to joining Arrow Media, Dost was the co-founder of New York-based prodco Red Marble Media. He has almost 20 years of experience in both production and development spanning several genres, including history, science, true crime and natural history. Among the projects he’s worked on are Evil Lives Here (ID, Discovery+), Monsters Inside Me (Animal Planet), Space’s Deepest Secrets (Science Channel) and Gates of Hell (History).

“Arrow Media has been creating world-class content for the American market for many years, so we know we have the opportunity to really accelerate our growth in this area,” said Arrow Media creative director Tom Brisley in a news release. “Stephen’s appointment is significant, as it will enable us to further nurture our relationships with American streamers and broadcasters and develop our slate of U.S. programming. Not only is Stephen incredibly well-connected, but he [also] has extensive experience developing and producing globally recognized, commercially successful content. We are delighted to have him on board.”

Added Dost: “Arrow Media is one of the world’s leading producers of outstanding factual programming — not only that, but their work with streamers [also] continues to be a key focus of their vision going forward. The opportunity to help expand their slate of U.S. programming is a very exciting challenge. Arrow Media’s ambition, energy and expertise is really impressive. The company already makes outstanding programming that resonates around the world, and I’m eager to get started on its plan for growth here in the U.S.”
