Spanish-language media and content giant TelevisaUnivision unveiled details of a first-look deal with Propagate Fuego to produce original Spanish-language unscripted and scripted content for ViX+, the company’s new SVOD service launching later this year.

Under the deal, TelevisaUnivision will have exclusive first-look rights to all content developed by Propagate Fuego, Propagate’s recently launched Spanish-language production unit. The agreement also includes a development fund for options, formats, writers and scripts. Propagate chairman and co-CEO Ben Silverman (pictured right) will serve as executive producer on all projects developed and produced under the Propagate Fuego deal.

ViX+ is TelevisaUnivision’s SVOD tier created for the Spanish-speaking world, slated to launch in the second half of 2022. The AVOD tier, ViX, will launch on March 31 and will be accessible across all major platforms in 19 territories, including the U.S., Mexico, and most of Spanish-speaking Latin America.

The deal marks the first partnership for Propagate Fuego, which launched earlier this year with a focus on producing and developing original scripted and unscripted content and formats for Spanish-language markets around the world, with a specific focus on the Americas. Propagate Fuego is headed up by Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Isabel San Vargas, Catalina Ramirez, Rodney Ferrell and Cyrus Farrokh.

“We are thrilled to partner with Propagate Fuego to create exceptional, premium, culturally relevant content,” said Rodrigo Mazon (pictured left), EVP and general manager of ViX+, TelevisaUnivision, in a news release. “Ben, Howard, and the entire team at Propagate have a proven record of creating engaging, multi-platform content. They share our mission of elevating Spanish-language stories and storytellers with groundbreaking programs that appeal to a global audience. We look forward to all we will do together through this partnership.”
