NBC released more details on its reboot of the classic game show Password, which is scheduled to air on NBC this summer.
Actress Keke Palmer (Nope, Hustlers) will host the series, which was picked up to be revived by NBC after it was introduced to a younger generation through its play on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
The series will see contestants partnered with Fallon and other celebrities facing off in a game of words. Fallon will play in each of the eight hour-long episodes, as celebrity-contestant duos compete for cash prizes by guessing a secret password using only one-word clues.
The series is produced by Fremantle in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Electric Hot Dog. Fallon is as an executive producer on the series, along with Jim Juvonen, Jennifer Mullin and John Quinn. Quinn will also serve as Password‘s showrunner.
NBC also announced that Password‘s premiere episode will be dedicated to actress Betty White, who died late last year. White was a regular player on both the original series and the more recent Late Night version. The season will end with an all-celebrity lineup playing for charity.
