Lori Hall upped to VP of international programming, A+E Global Content Sales

A+E Networks Global Content Sales has upped Lori Hall to the role of vice president of international programming. The announcement came from Liz Soriano, SVP of international programming, to whom Hall reports.

In the new position, Hall (pictured left) will oversee the programming, scheduling and development of A+E’s FAST channels in addition to her responsibilities as lead product knowledge advisor for both A+E’s international channels and its global content sales team.

Hall has been with A+E Networks since 2016, joining the company from Ovation TV and first working with the company’s Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network brands. In 2018 she moved to A+E International to work with its worldwide channel partners, and has since been a key part of the growth of A+E’s international linear and U.S. AVOD/FAST channels, as well as the creation of program-packaging models for global content sales and management of the company’s movie pipeline.

“Lori has been a longtime rising star at A+E Networks. An innovative, multifaceted programming strategist, Lori has made tremendous impacts on our international channels, O&O digital channel brands, and countless other global content products,” said Soriano in a statement. “I look forward to her ongoing success, growth, and influence as A+E continues to expand and evolve across many platforms all around the world.”

Beyond catalog sales, Tachet also played an active role in putting together financing for films and documentary series through international pre-sales with partners such as ZDF, NHK, KBS and SBS. Prior to Zed, Tachet oversaw project development and international documentary sales at Roche Productions before going on to create and run the documentary distribution department at AB International Distribution for three years.

Building on her decade of experience in international sales, Tachet will take the lead on Zed’s distribution.

Remarkable Factual taps BBC’s Jo Smith for director of programs role

Jo Smith, portfolio editor for BBC Two and BBC Four, is set to join Remarkable Factual, part of Banijay UK, in the newly created position of director of programs this summer.

In the role, Smith (pictured right) will oversee all current productions and provide support on the day-to-day operations of the label. Working closely with CEO Kitty Walshe, to whom she will report, Smith will also help build the company’s development strategy and grow the business.

Smith brings more than 15 years of experience working on leading factual entertainment and popular factual to the role. In her current position she leads on editorial content strategy across the BBC portfolio, with an emphasis on BBC Two, Four, and factual and current affairs content, with a focus on bringing iPlayer to the center of commissioning while continuing to strengthen and evolve the linear channels. Prior to that, Smith was the channel executive at BBC Three, where she was tasked with creating and commissioning original content for BBC Three on iPlayer.

In addition to her work in the broadcast space Smith also has experience across a range of digital platforms, including running Google-commissioned YouTube channels and working across branded campaigns with brands including Google, ASOS, BMW and Cancer Research UK.

“Jo is an incredibly experienced program-maker with a long list of standout credits to her name, but what really sets her apart is her digital-first experience. As we make and develop a raft of new, ambitious factual with innovation at its heart, this knowledge and experience will be invaluable, and I know she will be a huge asset to the team,” said Remarkable Factual and RDF CEO Walshe in a news release.

Added Smith: “I’m excited to be working with Kitty and her talented team. As well as managing the existing slate of incredible programs, I look forward to developing and growing the next big factual shows and talent of the future.”
