Banijay Nordic’s Danish label Mastiff Denmark has named entertainment-industry veteran (and its own former head of programs) Kristian Farcin-Leth to replace outgoing CEO Mads Ulrick Holmstrup, who is stepping down from his post after 20 years with the company.

Farcin-Leth (pictured) returns to Mastiff from Fremantle-owned Strong Productions, where he has served as CEO since 2017. Under his leadership, the label turned out such unscripted hits as The Farm, Celebrity Boot Camp and the Danish version of the UK competition format Race Across the World.

Reporting to Banijay Nordic Group COO Karoline Spodsberg and Nordic Group CEO and Mastiff chairman Jacob Houlind, Farcin-Leth will be tasked with building on Mastiff’s previous success to drive further growth opportunities across both scripted and unscripted production.

“With unrivalled knowledge of the Danish market, having been a cross-genre producer, creator and manager, Kristian couldn’t be better placed to take on the reins of the company,” said Houlind in a press release. “There is huge opportunity to further grow the slate of premium programming and build on Mastiff’s existing track record as a market-leading entertainment powerhouse.”

Added Farcin-Leth: “I’ve had five wonderful years at Strong, but the scope and ambition of the new role made the return to Mastiff irresistible, and I look forward to strengthening our position for the future. A future that requires us to dare to be modern and creative both in terms of management and development.”

Recent Mastiff Denmark unscripted productions include the drag competition series Drag Me Out, which premiered locally last summer and has just been licensed to Nordisk Film TV for a Norwegian edition.
