ITV has unveiled its new Amplify program as part of its multi-pronged initiative to create more opportunities for senior leaders from ethnically diverse backgrounds.
The program, which is part of ITV’s Diversity Acceleration Plan, aims to supercharge the leadership skills of a range of high-potential senior leaders across ITV, and match them with board-level sponsors to champion their development.
ITV’s creative diversity partner Nahrein Kemp is leading the program, which runs from March to July and features sessions on leadership development and coaching with industry coach Tracy Forsyth, as well as panels featuring speakers from ITV and external guest speakers.
ITV will select 17 leaders from a variety of areas across the company, including commissioning, production management, business affairs, finance, HR, content supply and distribution, legal, news and more. Participants will themselves sponsor ITV’s Kickstarters, a government-backed scheme for 16- to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit that aims to address the lack of job opportunities for young people.
The Diversity Acceleration Plan is intended to improve ITV’s representation from entry level to middle and senior leadership levels, and to improve diversity and career progression in TV production.
“Our senior leaders play a key role in our culture. This tailored programme is designed to ensure they thrive,” said Ade Rawcliffe, ITV group director of diversity and inclusion. “Not only will they enhance their leadership skills, but this will [also] help build their profile both internally and externally with their Management Board/PLC Sponsors actively championing them.”
