Candle Media, the recently formed media company run by veteran entertainment executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs and backed by global investment firm Blackstone, has announced the acquisition of L.A.-based “social storytelling” company ATTN:.

Under the deal, ATTN: will continue to create original content aimed at Gen Z and millennials across social media, network television and streaming services, accelerated by Candle’s added scale, capital and expertise. ATTN: will additionally grow its publishing, brand studio, creative strategy and agency services, including what the company is calling a first-of-its-kind TikTok studio.

ATTN: co-founders Matthew Segal and Jarrett Moreno, along with their existing senior management team, will continue to oversee day-to-day operations as well as original content, production and studio work.

The transaction is expected to close within 30 days.

Since the company’s founding in 2014, ATTN: has created original series for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitch, as well as for networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, MTV, Freeform and Discovery and streamers such as Hulu and Apple TV+.

“ATTN: has a deep, digital-native understanding for how to cut through the noise and reach today’s audiences through engaging content on social media,” Candle’s Mayer (pictured) and Staggs said in a joint statement.

Added ATTN: co-founders Segal and Moreno: “ATTN:’s mission has always been to use creative and clever storytelling to make important issues more digestible for mass audiences. Partnering with Candle and their growing, talented team of creators will allow us to further this mission in a whole new way, accelerating our growth and reaching even more people with what we create.”

Earlier this year, Candle purchased a stake in Westbrook Inc., the prodco founded by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
