The team behind the A&E series Live PD is reviving and revamping the police ride-along show for cable net Reelz under the title On Patrol: Live, which is slated to premiere this summer.
Produced by Half Moon Pictures, the new crime-focused production arm of Big Fish Entertainment, the series will be fronted by the original stars of Live PD — host Dan Abrams, chief legal analyst for ABC News, and retired Tulsa PD lieutenant Sean “Sticks” Larkin — along with Deputy Sheriff Curtis Wilson of Columbia, South Carolina. The trio will provide commentary and analysis on the footage captured by the camera crew as they accompany officers on their patrols.
The series will also incorporate members of the community via the segments “Citizen Ride-alongs,” which allows local residents to join the officers on duty; and “Citizens on Set,” in which they can then come into the studio to relate their experiences from and offer their observations about the ride-along.
“Law enforcement is front and center in the national discussion, and our hope is that showing the work of police officers in a live format will provide viewers with direct access to the work they do,” series host Abrams (pictured) said. “I’m thrilled our team is finally back together and excited that Reelz has committed to making this show front and center on their network.”
Abrams also serves as an executive producer along with John Zito, Paul Gordon and Joe Venafro
Reelz CEO Stan Hubbard added: “We’ve been in contact with Half Moon for some time and strongly believe that Reelz is the perfect home for On Patrol: Live, which will add to our network as the cornerstone of our commitment to commissioning brand-defining, must-see original programming.”
Reelz has committed to a significant episode guarantee for the series, and will share international and other rights to the show with Half Moon Pictures. The net will also serve as the distributor of those rights.
