On the eve of the MIP China online trade event running from June 28 to July 1, Beyond Rights has confirmed several factual sales to Chinese outlets.

First up is a healthy package of content from the MythBusters franchise, made by Beyond Rights’ production arm, Beyond Productions, for Discovery US. Seventy hours of programming from the long-running science and engineering series (pictured) has been picked up by Discovery Networks Asia–Pacific, including episodes from seasons four, five and eight and a selection of specials, including one dedicated to the tech of the James Bond film series.

Another Beyond Productions series, Curse of Akakor (6 x 60 min.), was among the selection of history titles taken by Los Angeles– and Beijing-based distributor Red Apollo Group, which also sprung for Elizabeth (9 x 60 min.), from ITN Productions; both seasons of Phoenix Television’s Underground Worlds (20 x 60 min.); and a pair of titles from Like A Shot Entertainment, Shipwreck Secrets (6 x 60 min.) and season three of Medieval Dead (7 x 60 min.).

Rounding out the sales slate was Woodcut Media’s Combat Ships (9 x 60 min.) and Wings of War (8 x 60 min.), picked up by No Country TV; and Pernel Media’s natural history title Who’s Afraid of the European Hamster? (1 x 60 min.), which sold to Yuxiu International Media Co.

“China is an increasingly important market for Beyond Rights, and I am delighted to have extended our relationship with each of these existing clients,” commented Joanne Azzopardi, Beyond Rights’ EVP of sales for Asia, Australia and New Zealand. “It is particularly pleasing to see so many strong factual titles find new homes, especially as it provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase in this major TV territory the work of some of the incredible producers we represent, including our sister company Beyond Productions.”
