Football star David Beckham will be the subject of a docuseries that is currently in production at Netflix, with some high-profile non-fiction talent attached.
Academy Award winner Fisher Stevens (The Cove, Before the Flood) will direct and executive produce the project, with Oscar- and Emmy-winning producer John Battsek (Searching for Sugar Man, One Day in September) also executive producing. Beckham’s prodco Studio 99 is producing the series with Ventureland.
The multi-part series will explore Beckham’s life and stardom, taking him from his youth in East London through the on-field career and off-field celebrity that led him to become one of the most recognizable athletes in the world.
The series boasts previously unseen personal archive footage from the past 40 years, as well as interviews with Beckham, his family and friends, and key figures in his life story.
