Scotland-based Matchlight has announced that the BBC has commmissioned it to produce three new films, set to air on BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Scotland. Mind the Gap is a one-hour current affairs doc BBC Two about the gap between rich and poor in the education system. It is presented by John Humphrys. My Soldier for BBC Three tells the story of the youngest British servicemen to be injured in Afghanistan, through the point of view of his young fiance. Last up is Primary School Proms for BBC Scotland. The doc looks at two Scottish primary school proms through the eyes of today's 11-year-olds. All three films are being executive produced by Ross Wilson, creative director of Matchlight. The films will be distributed internationally by DCD Rights and are due to air later this year. Matchlight is also in production on six-part obdoc Libel for BBC One, a coproduction with BBC Scotland and Too Old To Drive for BBC One, about elderly drivers.
