The International Documentary Association (IDA) will award Michael Donaldson, founding partner of Donaldson & Callif, with its Amicus Award on Dec. 4. The award is given to acknowledge the efforts of 'friends of the documentary who have contributed significantly to our industry,' says the IDA, and Donaldson will receive it in recognition of his advocacy efforts for independent film. This will be the third time in the 25-year history of the IDA Documentary Awards that the Amicus Award has been presented - previous recipients include Discovery Communications founder John Hendricks and Steven Spielberg. Also at this year's event, to be held in Santa Monica, Errol Morris will receive the Career Achievement Award.
