Canadian broadcaster CTV has promoted Bob Culbert to VP, documentaries. He will oversee docs on the network and, as part of the Discovery Channel team, ensures synergy on major factual programs.

Explore International has named Barbara Edols sales manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Deepak Shourie has joined Discovery Communications India as managing director. His appointment is effective May 7, 2001. Shourie succeeds Kiran Karnik, who is leaving the company.

Banff Television Foundation executive VP Jacques Bensimon has accepted a position with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) as Government Film Commissioner and Chairman. His successor at the foundation has not been named.

BBC chairman Sir Christopher Bland has accepted a position as chairman of British Telecom (BT), effective May 1. He has agreed to remain with the BBC in his current post until his successor is named.

Kevin Granger has joined Bravo as VP, sales strategy and national accounts.
