Discovery Networks Europe is splitting into two distinct business units, one serving the U.K. market and the other focusing on continental Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The move will allow Discovery to focus on the distinct needs and opportunities in the U.K.
David Abraham, general manager of the Branded Content groups, will become GM for the U.K. Abraham will report to a managing director, who has not yet been named. Joyce Taylor, MD for Discovery Europe, left in January. The search for a general manager for EMEA is also ongoing, but Rick Rodriguez, exec VP for content at Discovery Networks International, will fill in during the interim.
